It is no big secret that lots of abusers have been turning to fake urine for years now in order to pass urine drug tests. Whether it is for a job or a parole officer, synthetic urine has fooled a lot of drug tests, but now many states are moving to ban the substance.
This could truly be a major problem for habitual users if they are randomly popped with a test. So why exactly are states doing this and how are they going about it?
Concerns About Clean Urine On The Rise
It is pretty evident that there are a lot of individuals out there parking in illegal narcotics, as the rates of opioid, cocaine, and methamphetamine abuse are higher than ever before. And, this is not to even mention that marijuana is now legal for recreational use in nine different states. When you combine all of these facts together, it should be pretty evident that more and more individuals are partaking in narcotics.
So, how are they passing all these urine tests? Well, this is one question that many districts asked themselves and they came up with the answer of fake urine.
Sure, for years and years now abusers have tried to come up with unique and creative ways to pass a drug test. Some individuals have tried to pawn off other individual’s urine, while others have almost overdosed on water, while trying to cleanse their systems.
However, it is without a doubt pretty evident to state officials that synthetic urine is the new go-to solution, as it is extremely effective and affordable.
In fact, states have become so concerned that they are now trying to enforce laws that will ban the sale of fake urine in several different states. With a purchase price of seventeen to forty dollars in most head shops, fake urine is extremely easy to access. This is not to even mention the skyrocketing online sales.
Literally, just about any user can gain access to this substance, which has state officials on the fence.
Does It Really Work?
There are many people who believe that fake urine doesn’t actually work. This couldn’t be further from the truth. However, you should note that there are some factors at play. For instance, it is vital to make sure that the you’re getting the real deal.
Choosing a reputable company is going to be very important. It is also essential to get the right temperature. After all, the person administering the test is going to know that the urine is fake if it is cold to touch. If fake urine was ineffective, there wouldn’t be a debate about banning it. Synthetic urine works exceptionally well, but it does require a little bit of knowhow from the user.
How Is Fake Urine Made?
Synthetic urine has shown to be very effective in helping people who utilize banned substances pass drug tests. Synthetic urine is made from sodium chloride, potassium chloride, urea, creatinine, albumin powder and distilled water. If you can obtain all of these ingredients, it is easy to make fake urine. However, drug testing procedures and equipment have become much more effective in detecting fake urine.
Repercussions Of Fake Urine Detection
As mentioned above, laboratories are working to improve their urine testing equipment, so it will more effectively detect synthetic urine. If you attempt to make your own fake urine, you will be at a higher risk of having it detected. Companies that produce synthetic urine have scientifically tested their products to make sure they can pass a drug test (for more info check out my synthetic urine reviews).
With this said there is always the possibility of having the fake sample detected. If you fail your drug test, because the sample was determined to be fake you could face some major repercussions. Not only could you face a probationary period, but also you could end up losing your job.
The Supreme Court
The right to use drug tests in the workplace has been debated numerous times. In 1989, the Supreme Court upheld that right. It has also been debated during recent years and is often discussed as discrimination. Nevertheless, employers still have the right to drug screen their workers and the mass majority of the tests are urine tests.
The federal government is starting to make changes. They’re thinking about standardizing tests that focus more on saliva and hair. Of course, this isn’t a great solution either. Both have been debates and the hair test has run into many hurdles.
The director of science and technology for Quest Diagnostics, Barry Sample, suggests surprising employees. Quest Diagnostics is one of the leading employer solutions businesses in the world. Sample encourages businesses to use a combination of urine, saliva and hair tests. Doing so will create an element of surprise and make it very difficult for applicants to cheat using fake urine and other methods.
Some groups have attempted to weed out urine tests by switching to hair follice drug tests. However, this has been challenged numerous times. A handful of African American police officers in Boston claimed that the practice was discriminatory, due to the test of the hair.
They suggested that the test of their hair actually made it more likely that they would cause false positive. This is why urine testing remains the most common way to test someone for drugs. It is lightning fast, affordable and easy to administer. Nevertheless, it is not perfect.
It should be known that the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recently added a sixth drug to the drug test that their drug tests. That drug was ecstasy. They have also approved testing federal workers for four different prescription pain relievers.
This includes Dilaudid, Percocet, Vicodin and Oxycontin. They also test for heroin metabolites. Most urine tests will be a five-panel test. This means that the urine is tested for cocaine, marijuana, PCP, opioids, and amphetamines.
Urine is still the most common method of finding drugs in a persona’s body. Unfortunately, the private nature of urine tests means that these tests are not always effective.
In many cases, the tests are not observed. This gives people the opportunity to check if they wish to. This is one of the main reasons that fake urine is so immensely popular and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
If a law is passed and fake urine is banned, the number of positive drug tests are going to climb higher and higher.
